Tony and I love venturing out to Durham. I feel like every time I head there, I find a place that I just fall in love with instantly. It’s nice to be pleasantly surprised and eating at the Federal (914 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701) was no different. When I walked in, I almost walked back out. It looked like a nice bar to hang out at,and I loved the retro beer signs, but I thought it was just a normal bar and grill type setting. “Sorry Tony, it’s just a bar…” but I trailed off when something on the special board caught my eye. Osso Bucco? Sautéed root veggie? What had we stumbled upon? Continue reading

Last Thursday was the Triangle Tweet-up at Cary’s Lucky 32 (7307 Tryon Road
Cary, NC 27518). As always, the event was hosted by the lovely ladies @andreaweigl and @durhamfoodie. Tony and I thought that the Moldy Peaches’ song “Lucky Number Nine” should have been co-opted for the event, but I guess we wouldn’t have been able to get the rights in time. Luckily, the food there was so good, it didn’t need fanfare.

First things first, I sadly could not get a post up for last week’s episode due to major sinus issues and an overall week from hell. Long story short, our national nightmare is over and Alex is out of the running. Now, let’s focus on cutting the fat from the rest of this season…

In case you couldn’t tell, Tony and I enjoy a good beer now and then. When we moved to Raleigh, we had no clue that this area was a micro-brew paradise. There’s some awesome local brews in the area and I am very pleased to welcome Roth Brewing Company (5907 Triangle Drive, Raleigh, NC 27617) to the family.

Tony and I spent New Year’s 2009 at Downtown Raleigh’s Acorn Drop. It was fun….until the cold air sent us hailing a taxi and racing home to see the ball drop in Times Square. For 2010, we wanted to do something a little special. Continue reading

The Super Duper!
Raleigh is not what you would consider of a hotbed of pizza related activity, and although I have enjoyed occasionally eating at Mellow Mushroom, I have not been blown away by the pizza I’ve had in the area. A couple weeks ago I was hoping that we would change this with our meal at Lilly’s (1813 Glenwood Ave Raleigh, NC) which I had heard from several reliable sources was the best pizza in the area.

Happy Fall everybody! I know that a lot of people hate it when it starts to get cool ad the days get shorter, but I am a huge fan of Autumn especially here in North Carolina (unlike the midwest) where it rather mild and beautiful with all the fall foliage. Granted the cooler 60 degree days are just now starting to hit, so I may be singing a different tune come a couple weeks from now, but that’s beside the point. So I have some early fall food events to share with you.
OK this a big sign of Fall and Halloween, the arrival of the super sugary and tasty Boo Berry and Frankenberry. They are brothers of Count Chocula only available close to Halloween:
