The seasons are changing slowly but surely here in Raleigh. My poor lonely sweaters are coming out of hiding, the AC is finally off, and I saw the first of fall colors outside of my window this weekend. More importantly, it’s time for heavy, meaty, stick-to-your-ribs food. After my culinary de-pantsing that was my Ratatouille, I needed something a little easier, but tasty. I was a little bummed that my last attempt turned out so bad, but I didn’t want to fall back on old “well, I can always get takeout” habits. Kitchen Catastrophies: Tony’s lamb steak Raz El Hanout

After weeks of talking about and craving lamb, I finally broke down and bought some lamb steaks at the store the other day. Partially because my uncle has a sheep farm in Wisconsin, my family and I have always enjoyed this tender and complex meat.  I am not sure if this is the experience of most Midwestern families, but this meat seems like it was about as common as pork in my family kitchen as a child.  Anyways, it had been awhile since I had eaten home-cooked lamb, so I decided it was time to take a stab at cooking it on my own.
