The holidays have been hectic for Tony and I. Family, gift-buying, and work have led to a retreat to comfort food. So, what better meal to run away to for some post-holiday, back-to-work prepping than Sunday brunch? Plus, after living in Raleigh for almost 2 and a half years, it was time to get myself a meal at the well-known Irregardless Cafe.

This past week has been crazy if you’re driving down Blue Ridge. Cars lined up as far as the eye can see. It can only mean one thing: State Fair!!!!!!!!!Tony and I love the N.C. state fair; there’s local culture*fried food*, the arts*more fried food*, and agriculture *did I mention fried food?* Oh yeah, and then there’s the food. I love fairs and carnivals because it’s such a great excuse to indulge and the fair always finds new ways to push the fried envelope.

The Super Duper!
Raleigh is not what you would consider of a hotbed of pizza related activity, and although I have enjoyed occasionally eating at Mellow Mushroom, I have not been blown away by the pizza I’ve had in the area. A couple weeks ago I was hoping that we would change this with our meal at Lilly’s (1813 Glenwood Ave Raleigh, NC) which I had heard from several reliable sources was the best pizza in the area.

We Americans sure do love to our random meat stuffed together and put on bun, particular that which has been shoved into a tube. I for one have always been game for a great hot dog, whether as a snack on the go or one that has been carefully charred on the family grill. North Carolina is not necessarily a place that you think of when you think of great hot dogs, but Snoopy’s(1931 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh) proves that you don’t need to go to Chicago or New York for a good one.
