Top Chef Season 7, Episode 12: Ground Control to Major Tom…Collichio

Well, my fellow Top Chef fans, we made it through to the final 4 reveal. Does anyone else feel slightly…blasé? Last year, the fighting Voltaggio Brothers, the seriously sultry (or sultriously serious?) Jen, and the loveable Yukon Cornelius (Kevin Gillespie) promised a showdown. This year’s final 4 promises that Angelo will mutter at least two or three sexual metaphors when describing his dish in the finale. A perfect pairing with Lamb curry

A perfect pairing with Lamb curry

With this being Labor Day weekend, Tony and I are spared from another sad Monday at work. To celebrate, Tony and I made an attempt at homemade Lamb with curry/masala sauce, which he will expound upon in a later post. We also have an impromptu Wes Anderson marathon with Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. The wine is courtesy of one of my friends after a bad week at work; I guess she thought I needed a pick-me-up, which is so true. The Atalaya is a nice, smooth red, I was expecting a heavier wine and was pleasantly surprised by its lightness.  All in all, not a bad way to spend an extra night away from work.

Sunday Blues Wine Pairing #2

2 Buck Chuck and I Love You Man

2 Buck Chuck and I Love You Man

To cheer us up tonight we have a simple 2-buck Chuck Cabernet Sauvignon that we got the when we went to Trader Joe’s in Chapel Hill on Saturday.  We can’t wait till they open the Raleigh Trader Joe’s on Wake Forest Rd in October!  Together with our Cab, we have Paul Rudd and Jason Segal in I love You Man.  We both are big fans of Jason Segal in such things as Freaks and Geeks, Forgetting  Sarah Marshall, and How I Met Your Mother.  Paul Rudd is especially funny in this one and I do believe that Julia has a little crush on him.  We loved this movie in the theater and hopefully it will help cheer us up in this day of mourning the end of the weekend.  Later, Julia is going to make risotto, and I think she is going to post pictures!
